The Department of German, Russian, Italian, and Arabic at Hamilton College invites applications for a two-year position in Italian Studies at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor, with the possibility of a two-year reappointment, beginning July 1, 2025 . Applicants should have native or near-native fluency in Italian and a record of excellence in teaching Italian language at all levels. The hire will teach Italian language classes as well as courses in translation relevant to their scholarship and areas of interest.
Period and area of expertise for this position are open, but the department is particularly interested in candidates whose teaching and research can contribute to one or more of the College's other departments or interdisciplinary programs. We seek candidates who can demonstrate their experience in teaching or working with diverse student populations. Your cover letter should address the ways in which you would further the College's goal of building a diverse and inclusive educational environment.
A PhD in Italian Studies or a closely-related field is preferred. The teaching load for this position is five courses per year. The expected 9-month base salary range for this position is $76,000 to $78,500.
