General Information: Wheaton College (IL) is seeking a dedicated and passionate Assistant Professor to join the faculty in a visiting position in the Biological and Health Sciences Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching courses in general biology, botany, and environmental or biological ethics. This individual will contribute to the intellectual and spiritual growth of our students, blending academic excellence with a commitment to Christian values.

Start Date: Full-Time – Fall 2025

Pay Range: Assistant Professor - $62,000 - 67,000

Additionally, Wheaton College requires background checks for final candidates after an employment offer is extended. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  1. A Ph.D. in Biology, Botany, Ecology, or a related field.
  2. Demonstrated commitment to Christian values and the ability to integrate faith and learning in the field of biological sciences.
  3. Prior teaching experience at the university level is preferred, with a strong record of effective and innovative pedagogy.
  4. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage and inspire students.

Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and deliver engaging and comprehensive courses in general biology, botany, and bioethics at the undergraduate level.
  2. Utilize diverse teaching methods, including lectures, laboratory sessions, discussions, and innovative educational technologies, to promote active learning and critical thinking.
