Job summary

The University of Oregon’s History of Art & Architecture Department invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor for the 2026–27 academic year. The successful candidate will teach seven courses at undergraduate and graduate levels, with a focus on East Asian art, preference given to Chinese, Japanese, or Buddhist art specialists.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Art and/or Architectural History or related field required; ABD may be considered.
• Visiting faculty must hold a like or relevant position at another institution or have recently obtained a terminal degree.

Responsibilities

• Teach seven courses across undergraduate and graduate levels in East Asian art.
• Advance scholarship and contribute to a collaborative, high‑impact academic community at UO.
• Prepare and deliver courses focusing on East Asian art, with preference for Chinese, Japanese, or Buddhist art.
• Engage in service and contribute to transcultural exchange or museum practices.
