The Department of the History of Art and Architecture at the University of Oregon invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor for the 2026-27 academic year. The successful candidate will teach seven classes across undergraduate and graduate levels and may focus on East Asia, including Chinese, Japanese, or Buddhist art.

A teaching or research emphasis on transcultural exchange or museum practices is welcomed. Minimum qualifications include a Ph.D.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Art and/or Architectural History required prior to appointment; ABD may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Teach seven classes at undergraduate and graduate levels.
• Specialize in East Asian art history; preference for Chinese, Japanese, or Buddhist art courses.
• Engage in scholarly or creative activities and contribute to the department.
