Job summary

The University of Akron, School of Nursing, is seeking a CRNA faculty member to lead and coordinate didactic and clinical teaching for our anesthesia education program. The role emphasizes curriculum development, classroom and simulation instruction, and student advising to ensure COA compliance.

Ideal candidates will have an active Ohio CRNA license, a doctoral degree, and 3+ years of CRNA practice with ongoing COA credentialing involvement.

Qualifications

  • Current RN and APRN CRNA license in Ohio.
  • Minimum of three years of clinical CRNA experience.
  • COA guidelines knowledge and credentialing familiarity.
  • ACLS and BLS certification required.
  • Current COA certification/recertification status.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in recruitment, selection, and evaluation of candidates during admission.
  • Teach and assist design/implement curriculum to meet COA guidelines.
  • Coordinate didactic phase and class scheduling; advise students.
  • Act as liaison with program faculty regarding content and online platform, rosters, and schedules.
  • Ensure COA credentialing requirements and credentialing activities are managed.
  • Advise on DNP projects and maintain professional growth for faculty.

REQUIREDMust possess a current RN & APRN CRNA license in the State of OhioMust be currently certified/recertified by the Council on Certification/Recertification of Nurse AnesthetistsMust have a minimum of three years of clinical experience as a Certified Registered Nurse AnesthetistMust possess Clinical Practice Doctorate degree (DNP, DNAP) or Research Doctorate from a nationally accredited institutionCurrent ACLS and BLS certificationProficiency in interpersonal and communication skills (verbal, written and electronic) necessary to interact effectively with students, faculty, professional staff, administration, clinical affiliates, and the communityPREFERREDPrior didactic anesthesia teaching experienceFamiliarity of the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Program’s policies and proceduresKnowledge and skill of maneuvering computer software (Brightspace, Microsoft Word, Excel, & PowerPoint and other related educational platforms.)Familiarity utilizing Typhon Group Software & Prodigy ConnectSkill in goal setting and team buildingAnalytical and organizational skills to plan, implement and evaluate program activitiesESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Participate in the recruitment, selection, and evaluation of candidates during the admission process, as well as assists in establishing and maintaining admission and selection criteriaTeach and assist in the design and implementation of curriculum that enables students to obtain proper certification and ensures courses adhere to established COA guidelines and standardsAssist in the didactic phase of the Program. Specifically, he/she will coordinate course-teaching assignments among program faculty, provide instruction in the classroom, simulation and skills lab, as well as provide student advising.
