Visiting Assistant Instructor/Assistant Professor of Instruction - Zimmerman School of Advertising & Mass Communications

The Zimmerman School of Advertising & Mass Communications at the University of South Florida invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Instructor or Assistant Professor of Instruction. This is a nine-month, full-time, non-tenure earning position with a start date of August 7, 2025. Salary is negotiable. This visiting position may be extended for a second and third year based on performance and funding.

Location and Opportunities

The school is located in Tampa, Florida, within the 11th largest media market in the U.S., offering numerous internship and career opportunities. Students participate in over 100 internships annually, and various student organizations provide networking opportunities with professionals in the industry.

Application Details

Applicants should submit a cover letter, CV, teaching philosophy, evidence of creative works, a video reel, and contact information for three references. The position remains open until filled, with initial reviews beginning on May 9, 2025.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will teach a variety of video production courses, including electronic field production, Adobe for video and audio, production and direction, documentary film, and video for advertising and promotions. There may also be opportunities to teach in virtual production.

Qualifications
  • Minimum: Master's degree in video production, film, broadcast news, mass communications, or a related field; professional experience in video production and editing; submission of a video reel.
  • Preferred: Experience with mirrorless/DSLR cameras, proficiency with video editing software, and at least two years of teaching university undergraduates.
