Position Title: Visiting Assistant/Associate Professor of Marriage & Family Therapy and Program Director (Graduate)

Reports To: Chairperson of the Social and Behavioral Sciences Department

Position Summary:

The Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences at Manhattan University invites accomplished clinicians and educators to apply for a one-year visiting position as Assistant/Associate Professor and Program Director of our Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) M.S. program. This role combines academic leadership with teaching and research, offering you the opportunity to shape the future of MFT education and practice.

Responsibilities:

In this multifaceted role, you will:

  • Contribute to a program vision in collaboration with the Department Chair
  • Guide program growth through student recruitment and retention
  • Ensure professional standards aligned with NYSED regulations
  • Manage administrative aspects including scheduling and curriculum development

Teaching and Scholarship

  • Educate future therapists through graduate-level courses across counseling programs
  • Create supportive learning environments for diverse student populations
  • Mentor graduate students through academic advising and professional development
  • Contribute to our community through service initiatives
Clinical Training Leadership
  • Coordinate practicum and internship experiences for student therapists
  • Support students through their clinical training journey
  • Develop community partnerships with clinical placement sites
  • Contribute to COAMFTE accreditation processes and maintain compliance
  • Implement effective assessment methods for program improvement
  • Document program outcomes for accreditation and institutional requirements
Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Counseling or Clinical Psychology or related field with MFT expertise
  • This role requires on-site attendance
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching and mentoring graduate students
  • Experience in program leadership
  • Knowledge of COAMFTE accreditation standards (preferred)
  • Commitment to inclusive education and clinical practice
