Lehigh Valley Health Network seeks an accomplished physician leader to serve as Chair of the Department of Emergency & Hospital Medicine. The role oversees a broad clinical, academic, and operational footprint across LVHN; drives quality, education, research, and strategic growth; and shapes policy and physician workforce development for the Lehigh Valley region.

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in medical leadership.
• Pennsylvania Medical License.
• Completion of residency training in Emergency Medicine.
• Board certification in Emergency Medicine.
• Demonstrated leadership experience in a complex clinical environment.
• Demonstrated ability to lead physicians and multidisciplinary clinical teams.
• Strong understanding of clinical operations, quality improvement, physician workforce development, and strategic planning.

Responsibilities

• Provides vision and strategic direction for the Department of Emergency & Hospital Medicine, aligning priorities with LVHN and Jefferson Health.
• Leads physician leadership, recruitment, mentorship, and workforce development across the department.
• Oversees development, implementation, and growth of clinical programs and research initiatives.
• Develops and monitors quality improvement programs focusing on patient safety and operational performance.
• Represents the department on governance bodies and collaborates with academic and clinical partners.
• Guides medical staff policy management and regulatory compliance within the department.
• Drives care coordination, patient access, and efficient patient flow across multiple hospitals.
• Oversees financial and operational management of the department in collaboration with leadership.
• Fosters education, academic advancement, and graduate medical education partnerships.
