Job summary

Jefferson Health seeks a forward‑thinking Chair for the Department of Emergency & Hospital Medicine (DOEHM) to lead clinical, academic, and operational initiatives across a large network. The role emphasizes strategic growth, physician engagement, and high‑quality patient care within a multidisciplinary, education‑driven department.

The Chair will supervise physician leaders, advance research, and strengthen collaborations with academic partners and hospital leadership.

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree.
• Minimum 5 years of medical leadership experience.
• Pennsylvania Medical License.
• Residency in Emergency Medicine or Internal Medicine; board certification.
• Demonstrated leadership in a complex clinical environment.
• Ability to lead physicians and multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong understanding of clinical operations and quality improvement.

Responsibilities

• Provide vision and strategic direction for the department.
• Oversee education, research, and academic advancement of DOEHM.
• Lead quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.
• Mentor and develop physician and APC leaders.
• Collaborate with senior leadership on policy and operations.
• Represent the department on governance bodies and external partners.
