Job summary

The Executive Director at Southampton Animal Shelter Foundation will lead a mission-driven team, steers day-to-day operations and a multi-million-dollar budget, and partner with the board to advance SASF’s growth in Hampton Bays, NY.

With at least 10 years of senior leadership and proven fundraising success, you will oversee capital campaigns, donor stewardship, and community engagement while serving as the public face of SASF.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of senior-level leadership experience in a nonprofit or for-profit organization.
• Budget management experience of at least $5 million; SASF operates at ~$7 million.
• Clear career progression with promotions or expanded responsibility.
• Proven experience building and leading teams across multiple departments.
• Strong financial management, forecasting, and operational discipline.
• Successful fundraising with major donors, foundations, and government funding; capital campaigns a plus.

Responsibilities

• Directly lead and develop a senior team including Operations and Shelter Directors.
• Lead fundraising efforts, donor cultivation, and the capital campaign for a new shelter.
• Serve as SASF's public face, engaging donors, partners, and the community.
• Oversee budgeting, financial reporting, and data integrity with monthly reconciliations.
• Ensure compliance, risk management, and a respectful, mission-driven workplace.
