Job summary

The General Council on Finance and Administration (GCFA) seeks a visionary Chief Financial Officer to modernize systems, expand shared services, and strengthen financial stewardship across The United Methodist Church. The CFO will translate complex data into actionable insights for clergy, bishops, and agencies, while ensuring fiduciary responsibility and transparency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field is required.
• Master of Business Administration (MBA) strongly preferred.
• CPA, CMA, or comparable credential strongly preferred.
• Experience with GAAP, nonprofit accounting, and internal controls.

Responsibilities

• Lead GCFA's financial strategy, stewardship, forecasting, and resource allocation.
• Oversee accounting, treasury, payroll, budgeting, and related functions.
• Direct cash management, investments, and fiduciary assets with strong controls.
• Provide governance support and financial advisement to leadership and boards.
• Build relationships with bishops, treasurers, and ministry partners.
• Design and scale a Shared Services Model with clear standards and metrics.
