The Apollo Theater seeks an accomplished Artistic Director to lead artistic programming across six venues, including the Historic Theater and two new black-box spaces. Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive leadership in live events or related industries.
• Hands-on experience curating complex programming initiatives.
• Familiarity with the arts and entertainment venues and producers in New York City.
• Relationships with performers, creators and their teams.
• Demonstrated success managing large‑scale operational teams.
• Ability to balance creative ambition with financial stewardship.
• Outstanding organizational leadership, communication, and relationship‑building skills.
• Proven ability to lead through complexity, manage competing priorities, and drive organizational results.
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Articulate the artistic vision for The Apollo, assembling a cohesive season across six venues.
• Produce signature cultural experiences and multidisciplinary programming.
• Oversee learning and engagement programs for diverse audiences.
• Collaborate with senior staff to plan events within budget and track P&L.
• Develop partnerships and campus activation with external stakeholders.
• Lead and supervise staff and resources across departments.
• Oversee booking, scheduling, vendor agreements, and staffing.
