Job summary

HLBMA LLC is seeking an entry-level Vision Systems Engineer I to support the inspection process within the Cell and Electrode Technology team. You will help prevent quality issues, maximize yield and OEE, and support inspection systems and equipment maintenance.

You will work with Production, Quality, Engineering, vendors, and headquarters to improve detection capability and reliability of automated vision systems, with development opportunities into more advanced vision responsibilities.

Summary

The Vision Systems Engineer I supports the inspection process within the Cell and Electrode Technology team, helping to prevent quality issues and maximize output, including yield and OEE. This role supports inspection systems, inspection equipment maintenance, equipment performance improvement, and the introduction of new inspection technology across cell and electrode production. Working under the direction of senior engineering staff, the position partners with Production, Quality, Engineering, vendors, and global headquarters to maintain inspection accuracy, improve detection capability, and support the reliable operation of automated vision inspection systems. This is an entry-level engineering position with development opportunity into more advanced vision and inspection systems responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Support preventive maintenance for cell and electrode inspection equipment, including maintenance scheduling, performance tracking, and vision spare parts management
• Support daily cell and electrode production by adjusting inspection equipment parameters as needed
• Support improvement of inspection machine accuracy and detection capability
• Support inspection equipment improvement activities to enhance reliability and performance
• Support installation of vision system equipment on cell and electrode inspection lines and assist with developing installation schedules
• Distribute installation schedules to production teams, headquarters, and vendors
• Support equipment expansion and the introduction and application of new inspection technologies
• Support review and planning of inspection machine model development and model changes
• Support establishment and maintenance of inspection machine standards
• Support establishment and maintenance of the inspection information management system
• Support establishment and revision of Process Flow Diagrams (PFD) and BM, PM, and PD manuals
• Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance activities and inspection results
• Prepare and submit daily production reports on improvements and KPIs for distribution to production teams and headquarters
• Support development of technician training materials and skill development plans for inspection equipment
• Comply with all health, safety, environmental, and fire regulations
• Maintain regular and reliable on-site attendance
• Maintain cleanliness at work-site in accordance with 5S3R Standards (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain; Right Location, Right Quantity, Right Container)
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field required, or equivalent relevant experience
• Candidates with equivalent technical education, military technical training, or an Associate degree with relevant hands-on experience may also be considered

Experience

• 0 to 3 years of related experience in machine vision, automated inspection, controls, or manufacturing engineering
• Internship, co-op, apprenticeship, military technical training, senior design projects, or equivalent hands-on technical experience may be considered in lieu of full-time experience
• Experience with automated inspection equipment, machine vision systems, or optical inspection preferred
• Experience supporting equipment installation, commissioning, or preventive maintenance preferred
• Experience in battery, semiconductor, automotive, or other highly automated manufacturing environments preferred
• Knowledge of cell or electrode production processes and associated quality inspection requirements is a plus

• Ability to coordinate effectively with vendors, production teams, and global headquarters

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to properly and regularly utilize the following PPE for periods of up to 12 hours: safety glasses, steel-toed shoes, nitrile gloves, ear protection, and cleanroom suit
• Must be able to repeatedly lift, push, and pull materials or equipment for periods of up to 12 hours
• Must be able to repeatedly stoop, twist, and bend for periods of up to 12 hours
• Must be able to repeatedly reach overhead for periods of up to 12 hours
• Must be able to stand, walk, and move throughout production areas for extended periods
• Must be able to sit and/or stand for extended periods
• Must be able to use hands and fingers to operate tools, equipment, and computer systems

Work Environment

• Work is performed within a manufacturing facility, including cell and electrode production, clean room, and equipment support areas
• Work may involve handling or working in proximity to hazardous materials and regulated industrial chemicals
• Exposure to chemical vapors, dust, or other controlled substances may occur depending on process assignment
• Strict adherence to company safety policies and OSHA Hazard Communication requirements is mandatory
• Employees must properly wear and maintain assigned personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times within designated areas
• Required PPE may include respirators, chemical-resistant garments, gloves, eye protection, face shields, or other equipment determined by process and risk assessment
