We are seeking an experienced Vision System Engineer to support a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment, with a primary focus on machine vision systems and visual inspection equipment. The ideal candidate will have hands‑on experience tuning and troubleshooting Körber (formerly Seidenader) Visual Inspection Machines, particularly systems utilizing SVIM (Seidenader Vision Inspection Module).
When not performing subject matter expert (SME) responsibilities related to vision systems, the engineer will provide general manufacturing engineering support to ensure reliable and efficient production operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for pharmaceutical visual inspection systems and machine-vision technologies.
- Perform hands‑on setup, tuning, optimization, troubleshooting, and qualification support for Körber/Seidenader Visual Inspection Machines.
- Configure and optimize SVIM camera inspection hardware and associated vision inspection parameters.
- Work with SVObserver software for configuring, operating, and optimizing machine-vision inspection systems.
- Troubleshoot vision-system issues related to cameras, lighting, image quality, inspection parameters, and equipment performance.
- Optimize inspection systems to improve detection capability, accuracy, repeatability, and overall equipment performance.
- Support equipment changeovers, new product introductions, process improvements, and vision-system modifications.
- Participate in investigations related to vision-system failures, inspection defects, deviations, and equipment performance issues.
- Support root cause analysis (RCA) and implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), as applicable.
- Provide technical support during equipment qualification, validation, commissioning, and startup activities.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, troubleshooting guides, procedures, and other engineering documentation.
- Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, Validation, Automation, Maintenance, and other cross‑functional teams.
- Provide general manufacturing engineering support when vision-system SME activities are not required.
- Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, process efficiency, inspection performance, and manufacturing throughput.
- Provide hands‑on support on the manufacturing floor and respond to production‑related technical issues as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Hands‑on experience with Körber (formerly Seidenader) Visual Inspection Machines.
- Strong practical experience tuning and optimizing pharmaceutical visual inspection equipment.
- Experience with SVIM (Seidenader Vision Inspection Module) is highly preferred.
- Experience working with SVObserver or comparable vision‑system configuration/operating software.
- Strong understanding of machine‑vision principles, including:
- Image acquisition
- Inspection parameters
- Vision‑system troubleshooting and optimization
- Experience supporting manufacturing equipment in a GMP/pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to work hands‑on in a manufacturing environment and collaborate with cross‑functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with alternative machine‑vision platforms such as Cognex, Omron, or similar systems.
- Candidates with strong experience in other vision platforms will be considered if they can demonstrate that their skills are transferable to Körber/Seidenader and SVIM systems.
- Experience with equipment qualification, validation, commissioning, and startup.
- Experience with deviation investigations, root cause analysis, and CAPA.
- Experience with automated pharmaceutical inspection and packaging equipment.
- General manufacturing engineering experience within a regulated environment.
