Job summary

Denver Public Schools is seeking an Hourly Itinerant Special Education Vision Teacher to provide direct instruction for students with vision loss across settings from self-contained to inclusion. You will develop individualized lesson plans, teach adaptation strategies, and support teachers and families to improve student achievement.

The role requires a Colorado Special Education license, experience with visually impaired students, and the ability to work in Colorado.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Special Education is required.
Colorado teaching license with Special Education endorsement.
Experience with visually impaired students from gifted to profoundly disabled.
Experience with severe/profound blind students.
Live and work in Colorado; meet physical demands of the position.

Responsibilities

Collaborates with students, staff and families to address vision loss needs.
Teaches content areas, adapted technology, and daily living skills with individualized plans.
Provides Braille materials and assistive technology as needed.
Conducts vision evaluations and teaches compensatory strategies.
Offers classroom support and orientation/ mobility instruction.
Counsels students and monitors progress and health.
Other duties as assigned.
