Job summary

Dallas ISD is seeking a Special Education Itinerant Vision Teacher (187 days) to serve visually impaired students across district schools. You will assess students, adapt instruction, and participate in ARD meetings while coordinating with classroom teachers.

The role requires a Texas teaching certificate with endorsements and TSVI certification (EC-12). Driving is required to reach multiple campuses, and strong organizational and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and valid Texas teacher certificate with required endorsements for the subject and level assigned.

Responsibilities

• Teach district students who are visually impaired and modify instructions accordingly.
• Attend ARD meetings regarding students with visual impairments.
• Assist classroom teachers with curriculum and activities tailored to visual impairment.
• Provide Braille and large print textbooks and low-vision aids.
• Maintain contact with parents to discuss student abilities, progress, and goals.
• Interpret eye conditions and results of vision assessments.
• Advise on environmental modifications in schools for visually impaired students.
• Share resources and information with parents and in-service training on vision impairment.
• Keep up with current issues and methodologies in vision impairment.
