Job summary

Soliant is seeking a Teacher of the Visually Impaired to support Pre-K to transition-age students in a district near Elgin, IL. This on-site, full-time contract runs August 27, 2026 through June 9, 2027, with potential part-time consideration for the right candidates.

The role emphasizes mentoring staff, shaping best practices, and advocating for essential resources to elevate student learning outcomes across multiple schools.

Qualifications

• Active Professional Educator’s License (PEL) with a valid endorsement for teaching students with visual impairments.
• Master’s Degree in the field.
• Minimum of 5 years of school-based experience working with students who are visually impaired.
• Strong mentoring, coaching, and leadership skills.
• Must successfully complete fingerprinting for credentialing.

Responsibilities

• Deliver vision-related services to students across multiple schools as an itinerant specialist.
• Support families, educators, and the Vision Related Services Department.
• Mentor and train new and returning staff to ensure exemplary service.
• Guide staff in best practices, problem‑solving, and advocacy for resource access.
• Collaborate with other professionals to optimize student learning outcomes.
