Job summary

Lighthouse Louisiana is seeking an Occupational Therapy Assistant to join the Vision Rehabilitation Services team. You will work with adults and youth, providing OT interventions and collaborating with therapists to enhance independence in home, work, and community settings.

Responsibilities include home visits, group training, and coordinating OB services, with travel across southeastern Louisiana. A Louisiana-licensed COTA is required, and strong communication and organizational skills are

Qualifications

• Education: Occupational therapy assistant degree with license to practice in Louisiana as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) required.
• Special Knowledge/Skills: Knowledge of visual impairment effects; ability to perform Visual skills training; OT interventions to optimize occupational performance; ability to facilitate group training; excellent verbal and written communication; strong organizational and presentation skills; Proficiency in Office software.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialized OT interventions, including home visits, to adult clients per plan of care under the supervision of an OT.
• Develop expertise in Access Technology to support program needs.
• Serve as initial contact for OB program; conduct functional screenings to identify client needs and referrals.
• Provide individual and group instruction to OB Services.
• Implement OB service plans; schedule training; complete notes and discharges timely.
• Collaborate with VRS team to support families and clients with vision loss.
• Provide OT services to children 0–3 under supervision of OTEI; collaborate with families and educators.
• Provide OT intervention to children 3–21 with vision impairment; work with Lighthouse teams.
