TX-STAR Speech Language Services seeks a Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments to support students in San Antonio and across Texas. You will design individualized instruction and collaborate with teams to promote accessibility and independence for students with visual impairments.

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• Current Texas teaching certification and TVI endorsement.
• Knowledge of assessment methods used to evaluate visual functioning and educational access.
• Familiarity with Braille and assistive technology.
• Strong written and verbal communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to provide individualized support for students with a range of learning and behavioral needs.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with families and school-based teams.

Aufgaben

• Complete assessments to identify students’ visual functioning, learning needs, strengths, and areas for development.
• Provide direct and consultative instruction designed for students with visual impairments.
• Adapt lessons, assignments, and instructional resources into accessible formats, including Braille and large print.
• Incorporate assistive technology, tactile materials, and other specialized learning tools.
• Implement goals, services, and accommodations outlined in students’ Individualized Education Programs.
• Support instruction in functional skills and areas of the Expanded Core Curriculum as appropriate.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers, related-service providers, campus staff, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Consult with families and school personnel regarding accessibility strategies and student progress.
• Help students develop greater independence, self-advocacy, and participation in school routines.
• Maintain accurate service records, progress reports, assessment information, and required documentation.
