Job summary

Qualifications

• Alabama Visual Impairment certification requirements apply.
• Degree in Special Education required.
• Orientation and Mobility licensure preferred but not required; Braille literacy required.

Responsibilities

• Uphold school rules, regulations, and board policy.
• Participate in school and district operations through meetings and committees.
• Avoid any outside employment that interferes with duties.
• Follow AEA Code of Ethics for professional conduct.
• Adhere to approved curricula and materials in collaboration with the Exceptional Ed Coordinator.
• Foster student attitudes aligned with citizenship, self-discipline, morality, and patriotism.
• Maintain classroom discipline and support school-wide discipline efforts.
• Prepare lessons and demonstrate evidence of preparation upon supervisor request.
• Maintain accurate records as required by law and policy.
• Evaluate student progress per IEP/504 guidelines and district procedures.
• Collaborate with specialists and refer to appropriate services when needed.
• Provide safe environments and protect school property and students.
