Job summary

Educational Service Unit 13 in Scottsbluff, Nebraska seeks a Teacher of the Visually Impaired for the 26-27 school year. The role reports to the Director of Special Education and requires a Nebraska Teaching Certificate with VI Endorsement and a 185–191 day schedule, including some summer services.

Bachelor’s in education preferred. Responsibilities include direct instruction, assessment, IEP/IFSP development, collaboration with teams, braille instruction, and assistive technology use.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in education and Nebraska Teaching Certificate with VI Endorsement as required by rules.
• Certification and training as required or assigned by the district.
• Citizenship, residency or work visa required.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct instruction and consultation for blind or visually impaired students per plans.
• Develop programming in areas of functional vision, learning media, and expanded core curriculum.
• Develop and implement goals for IFSP/IEP; monitor progress and report to teams.
• Coordinate with general and special education staff, families and providers.
• Prepare and adapt classroom materials; maintain braille proficiency and assistive tech.
• Participate in professional development and fidelity activities as required.
