Job summary

Point Quest, Inc. in Indianapolis is seeking a Teacher for the Visually Impaired to serve K-12 students.

You will conduct assessments, develop individualized education plans (IEPs), and deliver direct therapy to improve communication and access to education. You will collaborate with teachers, families, and multidisciplinary teams, teach Braille and orientation and mobility, align curriculum with objectives, provide resources to regular classrooms, and maintain accurate records in compliance

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and Indiana VI license required.
• Braille reading/writing proficiency; use of assistive tech.
• Strong organizational and planning skills; professional communication in English.
• Experience with children with visual impairments (birth-21) and severe disabilities.
• One year of LV Special Education teaching experience.

Responsibilities

• Assess pupils’ visual functioning, communication, motor, social, self-help, academic, and cognitive skills.
• Create and implement IEPs with measurable goals based on assessments and learning continuums.
• Teach braille and orientation & mobility; support integration into regular education.
• Develop and deliver curriculum activities aligned with objectives; provide resources to regular teachers.
• Maintain a positive learning environment; monitor progress; adjust teaching strategies as needed.
