Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital in Charlottesville, VA is hiring a Wound Care RN for the Innovative Inpatient Care Model within our Centralized Virtual Acute Care Department. This part-time, on-site role supports bedside staff remotely via HIPAA-compliant video communications toAdmissions, discharges, teaching, and medication reconciliation.

The position requires an RN with an Associate’s degree; BSN/MSN preferred, Virginia RN license, and BLS within 90 days.

Qualifications

• RN with Associate's degree required.
• BSN or MSN preferred.
• Registered Nurse license required.
• BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
• NIHSS and ACLS preferred.
• 5 years of recent acute care bedside nursing experience; IMCU experience preferred.
• Wound care experience required.

Responsibilities

• Perform nursing duties via video calls including admissions, discharges, patient teaching, medication reconciliation and more.
• Collaborate with bedside nurses to ensure safe, high-quality patient care in the Virtual Acute Care model.

VA.Leverage the use of technology to enhance patient care in the hospital and provide support to nurses at the bedside. Virtual RNs can support the team at the bedside to alleviate the workload and provide greater satisfaction for both the patients and the nursing staff. They handle administrative tasks that take significant time but don’t require hands-on care. This improves workflow while ensuring patients are fully informed about the care they have received.Virtual nurses are not a replacement for bedside nurses, instead they serve as an additional member of the hospital care team. Bedside nurses and virtual nurses work together to ensure that patients continue to receive the safest and highest quality of care.
