Job summary

Parallel is seeking a Maine Licensed School Social Worker for a fully remote, part-time role supporting students at a single elementary school. The assignment is about two days per week with flexible weekdays around other providers, and it is a 1099 contract.

You will deliver individual social work services aligned with each student’s IEP, coordinate with teachers and families, and document progress with logs and notes.

Qualifications

  • Maine license or certification for school social work.
  • Minimum of one year full-time, on-site school social work experience.
  • Experience providing counseling, social-emotional support, and behavioral interventions in a school.
  • Experience collaborating with IEP teams and supporting measurable student goals.
  • Strong communication, organization, and documentation skills.
  • Access to a private workspace and reliable technology.

Job description

Parallel is hiring a Maine Licensed School Social Worker for a fully remote, part-time opportunity supporting students at one elementary school.

This assignment is approximately two days per week, with flexibility in choosing which two consistent weekdays work best around the school’s other service providers.

What You’ll Do
  • Provide individual social work services according to each student’s IEP.
  • Support approximately 11 students, currently in grades K–6, within a Pre-K–6 school.
  • Help students build coping skills, social skills, peer interaction, social problem-solving, and executive functioning skills.
  • Provide 30-minute individual sessions. Some students receive services twice per week, while others are seen once per week.
  • Schedule consultation time with teachers and school staff.
  • Collaborate with families, educators, IEP teams, and related service providers.
  • Complete required documentation, progress notes, and service logs.
What You’ll Need
  • Valid Maine license or certification for school social work practice.
  • Minimum of one year of full-time, on-site school social work experience, excluding internships.
  • Experience providing counseling, social-emotional support, and behavioral interventions in a school setting.
  • Experience collaborating with IEP teams and supporting measurable student goals.
  • Strong communication, organization, and documentation skills.
  • Access to a private workspace, reliable computer, webcam, and high-speed internet connection.
Schedule and Assignment Details
  • Fully remote
  • Part-time, approximately two consistent school days per week
  • Flexible weekdays based on coordination with speech, occupational therapy, and other providers
  • All student sessions are currently individual rather than group-based
  • Anticipated start date: August 31, 2026
  • 1099 contract position
