Job summary

ACCEL Schools LLC's Virtual Preparatory Academy of Florida is seeking a qualified School Counselor to support K–12 students online across the state. You will deliver proactive guidance, assist with graduation and career planning, and collaborate with families and staff to tailor academic programming.

Open to Florida residents, the role requires a valid state counselor license, a bachelor's degree, and experience with ASCA model and online learning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in counseling or related field.
• Florida resident eligibility (Open to residents in Florida).
• Valid State Counselor license.
• Experience with the ASCA model.
• Experience with K-12 online learning.
• Knowledge of Local, State, and Federal laws and mandated reporting.

Responsibilities

• Deliver proactive guidance curriculum to individuals and groups.
• Respond with responsive counseling and programming for students.
• Review transcripts and inform course placements.
• Maintain and review transcripts for active students and inform credit procedures.
• Create and maintain graduation plans.
• Provide career readiness curriculum and facilitate career planning.
• Deliver Social-Emotional Learning curriculum.
• Create and maintain Student 504 plans.
• Analyze student data for appropriate academic programs and interventions.
• Travel within the state to support testing and events.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

The Virtual Preparatory Academy of Florida is a K–12 tuition-free online public school serving students statewide. At VPA Florida, we provide a safe and nurturing environment where every student has the opportunity to be understood and inspired through a customized learning path that includes live interactive sessions and personalized teacher support.

We are seeking a highly qualified School Counselor who is dedicated to fostering the social, emotional, and academic development of every student! At ACCEL Schools, we leverage a cutting-edge 21st-century support framework, delivering comprehensive counseling services through innovative online platforms and traditional outreach methods to ensure no student navigates their journey alone.

The School Counselor supports overall student success by partnering with staff members and families to inform student specific academic programming, create andmaintaingraduation and career plans, and provide proactive and preventative services.

About the Opportunity

• Deliver proactive guidance curriculum to individuals and groups

About You

• Bilingual strongly preferred
• Valid State Counselor license
• Bachelor’s degree plus one (1) yearpreviousexperience in counseling and/or advisement OR equivalent combination of education and experience
• Experience with the ASCA model
• Experience with K-12 online learning
• Experience with Local, State, and Federal laws and mandated reporting
• Proficiencyin Microsoft Office and Google Suite Products
• Ability to handle confidential information responsibly andexhibitsound judgment whilemaintainingthat confidentiality
• Ability to manage difficult or emotional situations and make evidence-based decisions
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Ability to work well under pressure, effectively prioritizing and executing tasks to meet deadlines consistently
• Customer service oriented
• Ability to work independently and contribute to a team
• Ability to pass federal and state criminal background checks
