Job summary

Synapse Virtual Production at Tyler Perry Studios seeks a Virtual Production Engineer to own the health and reliability of the stage's technical infrastructure in Atlanta. The role reports to the Executive Producer and collaborates with the Technical Stage Manager, VP Supervisor, and VP Operator to maintain a high-performing foundation.

Ideal candidates will have strong experience in systems or broadcast engineering, with deep networking and control system knowledge, and a background in LED

Qualifications

• Experience in systems engineering, broadcast engineering, or stage systems support.
• Deep knowledge of networking, sync, and control systems in a production environment.
• Experience with LED volume support, render and control environments is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Owning the health and reliability of LED, render, sync, networking, and control systems.
• Leading preventative maintenance and building routines to reduce failures.
• Troubleshooting infrastructure-level issues across networking, synchronization, routing, and connectivity.
• Supporting the engineering side of the LED volume ecosystem and contributing to upgrades and performance optimization.
• Building and maintaining clear engineering documentation, diagrams, and configuration records.
• Partnering across stage, VP workflow, and runtime execution lanes to route and resolve technical issues.

Virtual Production Engineer

The Systems Engineer owns the health, reliability, maintenance, and ongoing evolution of the technical infrastructure that powers our Atlanta virtual production studio. Located on the historic Tyler Perry Studios campus, the stage is part of a strategic, multi-year collaboration between Synapse Virtual Production and Tyler Perry Studios, bringing world-class technology and production expertise together to support filmmakers, studios, brands, and creators.

This role is responsible for the engineering backbone of the stage—ensuring the systems, networks, hardware, and infrastructure that power our virtual production environment operate reliably, efficiently, and at peak performance. Reporting to the Executive Producer, the Systems Engineer partners closely with the Technical Stage Manager, VP Supervisor, and VP Operator to maintain a stable, high-performing technical foundation while continuously improving the stage's capabilities.

Key responsibilities include:

• Owning the health and reliability of LED, render, sync, networking, and control systems
• Leading preventative maintenance and building routines that reduce avoidable failures
• Troubleshooting infrastructure-level issues across networking, synchronization, routing, and connectivity
• Supporting the engineering side of the LED volume ecosystem and contributing to upgrades and performance optimization
• Building and maintaining clear engineering documentation, diagrams, and configuration records
• Partnering across stage, VP workflow, and runtime execution lanes to route and resolve technical issues appropriately

The ideal candidate brings strong experience in systems engineering, broadcast engineering, or stage systems support, deep knowledge of networking, sync, and control systems in a production environment, and strong troubleshooting and documentation discipline. Experience with LED volume support, render and control environments, and virtual production ecosystems is strongly preferred.
