Job summary

Confluence Health is seeking a Virtual Patient Safety Assistant to join our in-house care team. You will provide virtual patient observation under the direction of the Registered Nurse on the patient care units.

The role emphasizes monitoring patient safety via the virtual sitter system, communicating any changes to the RN or CNA, and following the care plan to support patient well-being. A high school diploma and basic computer skills are required; one year of direct patient experience is

Responsibilities

• Obtains verbal report on patient’s observational needs and safety risks.
• Maintain constant visual observation via virtual sitter; pause during in-room care.
• Document observations and notify RN of patient changes.
• Alert RN or CNA to patient needs or risks.
• Follow nurse instructions for redirection of patient as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Summary

This is not a remote position, it will be in house.

The Virtual Patient Safety Assistant functions under the general direction of the Registered Nurse on the patient care units. The Assistant provides virtual patient observation by performing the listed duties within the context of their job description.

Position Reports To: Resource Unit Clinical Nursing Manager

Essential Functions

1. Obtains verbal report from the patient’s nurse and previous virtual sitter to include information regarding the patient’s identified observational needs, any visual, auditory, or language barriers as well as any special considerations (bed alarms, restraint use, etc.), and room safety/risk mitigation for low-risk suicide ideation patients.

2. Maintain constant visual observation of the patient using the virtual sitter software unless clinical staff is in the room. Visual observations will be paused while patient care is being performed by clinical staff and resume once care is completed.

3. Accurately records data and notifies RN of any change in patient.

4. Notifies RN or CNA of patient needs or risks as identified.

5. Obtains instructions from nurse regarding course of action for redirection of patient if needed.

6. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:

• High School Diploma or equivalency.
• Must possess basic computer skills related to Windows navigation, mouse usage, keyboarding, email communication and password management.

Desired:

• One year of direct patient experience.
