Job summary

Heartbeat Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to join our fully remote virtual clinic, Monday–Friday 9:00 AM–5:00 PM CST. You will support patients and providers, ensure smooth virtual visits, accurate documentation, and a compassionate patient experience while advancing digital heart care.

As a Medical Assistant, you will prepare patients for visits, verify video and audio, obtain telehealth consent, collect insurance information, take medical history, document medications and vitals, and

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Certifications CMA/CCMA/RMA required.
• 1–3 years of medical assistant experience, virtual care preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for physician visits.
• Connect with patients; ensure video/audio work and interpreters as needed.
• Obtain signed telehealth consent forms and insurance cards.
• Take medical information over the phone and document history.
• Record medications, dosing, and primary complaint.
• Obtain vitals and verify baseline labs; conduct KCCQ survey.
• Answer calls and schedule follow-ups.

About the Role:

Heartbeat Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to join our virtual clinic Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM CST.

As a Virtual Medical Assistant, you’ll be a key member of our Clinical Care Team, supporting patients and providers in a fully remote environment. You’ll ensure smooth virtual visits, accurate documentation, and a compassionate patient experience all while helping shape the future of digital heart care.

Patient care:

• Prepare patients for physician visits
• Connect with patients, ensure video and audio work, and add interpreters as needed
• Obtain signed telehealth consent forms
• Obtain photos of insurance cards

Clinical duties:

• Prepare patients for physicians
• Take medical information over the phone
• Document medical history, medications, dosing, and primary complaint
• Obtain baseline vitals and verify baseline labs
• Conduct KCCQ survey

Administrative tasks:

• Answer incoming calls
• Engage in confirmation calls for upcoming appointments
• Perform chart checks and engage in chart prep prior to patient visits
• Schedule follow up appointments and labs
• Proactively identify opportunities for improvement and risk mitigation
• Execute policies that promote the best patient experience

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent
• Certification: Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) required
• Experience: 1-3 Years of experience as a Medical Assistant to include providing virtual care to patients
• Skills: Exceptional people skills, a GREAT communicator, outstanding organization and multitasking, and detail-oriented with a focus on process
• Traits: Self-driven and excited to support new technology, a fast learner that is flexible and adaptable with a passion for delivering an outstanding patient experience
