Job description

BetWell Health is a virtual-first behavioral health organization that provides intensive outpatient (IOP) and outpatient treatment for substance use, co-occurring mental health conditions, and gambling disorder. Our programs are designed for virtual care from the start, with live groups rather than recorded content, weekly individual therapy, and one clinical team that follows patients as they move between levels of care. That design lets us reach Coloradans who can’t easily get to in-person treatment: rural residents, working adults, and people who value privacy.

The Role

The Virtual IOP Clinician delivers group and individual treatment at the IOP level of care through our secure telehealth platform. You will lead live therapy groups, carry a caseload of IOP patients, and work closely with the Clinical Director, Medical Director, and admissions team to move each patient from assessment to discharge with a warm handoff to the next provider. This role suits a clinician who wants structured supervision, a clear clinical model, and experience in a growing virtual program.

Responsibilities
  • Facilitate live, virtual IOP groups, including process, psychoeducation, relapse prevention, and skills-based groups, using evidence-based approaches such as CBT, DBT skills, motivational interviewing, and mindfulness-based relapse prevention. Curriculum is provided and creativity is encouraged
  • Provide individual therapy to an assigned IOP caseload, typically weekly
  • Complete biopsychosocial assessments and help determine level of care using ASAM Criteria
  • Develop person-centered treatment plans with patients and review and update them on the required schedule
  • Complete timely, accurate clinical documentation in the EHR, including progress notes, treatment plan reviews, and discharge summaries, to Colorado Behavioral Health Administration (BHA), accreditation, and payer standards
  • Screen for risk at every contact, conduct safety planning, and follow BetWell's crisis protocols for patients receiving care remotely, including verifying patient location and emergency contacts at each session
  • Coordinate care with referring providers, outpatient therapists, prescribers, and family members when a valid release is on file, including weekly updates and discharge handoffs
  • Support step-up and step-down transitions between IOP and outpatient care so patients don’t have to restart with a new clinician
  • Take part in weekly clinical supervision, case consultation, and treatment team meetings
  • Protect patient rights and confidentiality under HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, and Colorado BHA rules
  • Provide feedback to support the development of group curricula as the program grows, including content for co-occurring and gambling-related presentations
Qualifications

The following is required:

  • Candidates should have clinical licensure (LMFT, LPC, LCSW, etc.) or active candidacy status (LPCC, CSC, MFTC) registered with DORA

You must also have:

  • Experience with substance use and co-occurring populations, preferably in an IOP, PHP, or other group-based program
  • Comfort leading groups over video and keeping a virtual room engaged and safe
  • Strong documentation habits and EHR proficiency
  • A private, HIPAA-compliant workspace and reliable high-speed internet
Preferred
  • Certified Addiction Specialist (CAS)orLicensed Addiction Counselor (LAC)credentialed through DORA's State Board of Addiction Counselor Examiners
  • International Certified Gambling Counselor (ICGC) credential, or interest in pursuing it with BetWell's support
  • Experience using ASAM criteria to determine level of care
  • Prior telehealth group facilitation experience
  • Training in an evidence-based model such as DBT, CBT for SUD, MI, or Seeking Safety
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)
