Dolly Parton Children’s Hospital is seeking a Virtual Health Advanced Practice Provider to deliver telehealth visits for the School Telehealth Program and Virtual On Demand. You will work under physician supervision to perform exams, diagnose, order tests, and manage treatment plans for pediatric patients.

Minimum education includes PA licensure (or NP with state license) and at least 1 year of pediatric experience; strong communication, tech skills, and ability to multitask are essential.

• Provide non-emergent acute medical care via telemedicine at designated facilities.
• Provide medical services under physician supervision.
• Complete medical histories and physical exams.
• Formulate diagnoses within the scope of practice.
• Order diagnostic studies and perform related procedures as assigned.
• Develop treatment plans and write medication orders.
• Assist with in-service education.
• Initiate referrals and consultations.

Basic Purpose of the Job

The Virtual Health Advanced Practice Provider provides telehealth visits for our School Telehealth Program and/or Virtual On Demand.

Reports To

Virtual Health Manager and Medical Director

Job Requirements

• Minimum Education: Bachelors Required for Physician Assistant or Masters Required for Nurse Practitioner
• License/Certification Required: Physician Assistant National Examination Certified for Physician Assistant or NP Licensed in State of Tennessee
• Minimum Work Experience: 1 year pediatric experience required

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Effective communication skills and interpersonal skills for confident interactions with community partners.
• Strong computer skills pertinent to use of laptops and tablets.
• Experience with Apple products preferred.
• Excellent problem-solving skills are required as is the ability to multi-task and to work both independently and within a team

Duties and Responsibilities

• Responsible for providing non-emergent acute medical care at one or more designated facility(s) through telemedicine or other virtual health delivery technologies.
• Providing medical services under the supervision of a physician.
• Complete medical assessments including history and physical exam.
• Formulate diagnosis based on data collected and within scope of practice.
• Order appropriate diagnostic studies and execute such diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as the physician may assign.
• Provides plan of treatment based of diagnosis.
• Writes medication orders.
• Assists with the provision of in-service education.
• Initiate appropriate referral and consultation.

Physical Requirements

• Light lifting, pushing and pulling is required for 10-20 lbs occasionally and frequent moving of objects of less than 10 lbs is required.
• Frequent sitting with some walking, standing, squatting, bending and reaching is required.
