Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an IT Systems Administrator to oversee VDI environments, ensuring patching, security, and performance across VMware Horizon and Citrix platforms.

You will partner with engineering, cybersecurity, and service teams to deploy patches, maintain master images and pools, and deliver tailored solutions to customer requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
• Five or more years of experience in systems administration or related role supporting VDI environments.
• Experience with VMware Horizon, Citrix, or other major VDI solutions.
• Strong understanding of Windows Server, AD, Group Policy, and networking fundamentals.

Job description

• Manage the functionality and efficiency of groups of computers running on one or more operating systems


• Work alongside the engineer to maintain and deploy VDI thin clients


• Use SCCM/MECM to ensure patching and security compliance


• Collaborate with the Service Desk to troubleshoot hardware and software issues


• Maintain and secure master images and pools


• Implement patches, updates, and configuration changes with cybersecurity and IT teams


• Interface with the customer to gather requirements and deliver solutions


• Troubleshoot VDI issues involving user access, performance, connectivity, and software compatibility


• Monitor system performance and usage to identify bottlenecks or failure points and recommend improvements

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, or equivalent additional experience


• High school diploma and 4 years of additional experience may substitute for a bachelor’s degree


• Associate’s degree and 2 years of additional experience may substitute for a bachelor’s degree


• Master’s degree is equivalent to 2 additional years of experience; PhD is equivalent to 4 additional years of experience


• Five or more years of experience as a systems administrator, systems engineer, or in a related role supporting VDI environments


• Experience with VMware Horizon, Citrix, or other major VDI solutions


• Strong understanding of Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, and networking fundamentals


• Must be a US Citizen


• Must be eligible and willing to obtain an Interim Secret clearance prior to starting


• Ability to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time


• Ability to occasionally move about inside the office and communicate with coworkers, management, and customers via email, phone, or virtual communication


• Ability to deliver presentations
