Job summary

Jobtailor in Cedar Rapids, IA seeks a seasoned VDC/BIM professional to lead digital construction workflows on complex projects. You will manage BIM processes, coordinate with architects, engineers, and field teams, and drive VDC integrations across preconstruction, field operations, and vendor networks.

The role requires hands-on experience with Revit, Navisworks, and Procore, plus strong leadership and analytical skills.

Qualifications

  • Industry-related bachelors degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum five (5) years of architectural services, construction, or manufacturing experience.
  • At least two (2) years of VDC/BIM management experience.
  • LEAN principles experience is desirable.
  • OSHA 10 or 30 preferred, or willingness to obtain upon hire.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Proficiency in Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, and Navisworks.
  • Ability to learn JDE, Procore, Scheduling Software and other software.
  • Initiative, independent judgment, project management, and analytical skills.
  • Leadership, business acumen, client relations, and decision-making abilities.
  • Experience with drones, FAA Part 107 Certificate, LiDAR scanning, reality capture, data processing, and data utilization preferred.
  • Visa sponsorship is not available.

Responsibilities

  • Apply VDC technologies onsite with project teams.
  • Provide technological expertise for drones, robotics, laser scanning, and reality capture.
  • Leverage 3D, 4D, and 5D digital content to design, manage, and implement VDC systems.
  • Streamline workflows between preconstruction, field operations, and other project departments.
  • Collaborate with learning and development to lead VDC training sessions.
  • Test, plan, and direct implementation of approved software and hardware.
  • Produce VDC estimates and cost analyses.
  • Propose improvements supporting companywide VDC strategic initiatives.
  • Maintain VDC standards and best practices.
  • Analyze metrics and propose improvement solutions.
  • Participate in vendor, supplier, and service provider negotiations.
  • Promote VDC capabilities through marketing and business development initiatives.
  • Present VDC capabilities to owners, architects, and project teams.
  • Maintain site models, logistics plans, coordination models, and final as-built models.
  • Handle RFIs and A/E design changes and updates.
  • Track, evaluate, and help develop trade/construction models.
  • Perform weekly drone flights, data processing, laser scanning, and reality capture.
  • Conduct QA walks comparing models with actual build conditions and log deviations.
  • Coordinate model updates with trades and project teams.
  • Perform project engineering duties such as submittals and trade management.
  • Mentor team members and delegate tasks and responsibilities.
