Overview

Texas Oncology is seeking a Virtual Triage Nurse (RN) to support our Virtual Care Program. This remote position is open to candidates across Texas and beyond, provided you hold an RN license recognized by the Texas State Board of Nursing.

As the largest community oncology provider in the U.S., Texas Oncology has over 600 providers across more than 220 sites in Texas and southeastern Oklahoma. Our mission is to make high-quality, accessible cancer care available to all communities, enabling patients to fight cancer at home with support from loved ones. We treat half of all Texans diagnosed with cancer annually.

Role Responsibilities
  • Assess patient symptoms and concerns via phone, portal, or email promptly.
  • Evaluate urgency and manage symptoms to prevent unnecessary ER visits.
  • Document all patient interactions comprehensively.
  • Provide clear instructions and education over the phone.
  • Collaborate with physicians and staff to address care needs beyond standing orders or protocols.
  • Schedule appointments for symptom management as needed.
Qualifications
  • Graduate from an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred.
  • At least 3 years of oncology nursing experience.
  • Current RN license in Texas or recognized state.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Experience in oncology or a related specialty.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements

This role is primarily remote, involving computer-based work. Physical demands include standing, walking, lifting up to 25 pounds occasionally, and other typical office activities. Reasonable accommodations can be provided for disabilities.
