Job summary

The Biltmore Company is hiring a part-time Security Officer for the Village Hotel. You will patrol on foot, monitor entrances, assist guests, and respond to emergencies with calm and professional guidance. Shifts are typically 1pm–9pm or 3:30pm–11pm, about 20–29 hours per week, with three shifts weekly. Eligibility includes high school diploma and CPR/AED certification, with second language helpful.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Monitor hotel entrances and exits; conduct daily inspections.
• Receive, log, and store lost and found items; respond to inquiries.

**Job Description**The Security Officer will have the primary goal to maintain a safe and secure environment at the Village Hotel for both associates and guests. Safety Officers will spend a majority of shift on foot patrol, walking, climbing stairs of the interior and perimeter of the hotel to observe and identify potential security and safety risks or undesirable conditions. Officers will also maintain order in the hotel, dealing with the welfare of guests (e.g. assisting with door lock and safe challenges); coordinate expedient response to emergency conditions such as fire or safety hazards and threats to life and or property in a calm, rational and persuasive manner; and will provide general assistance and support for the department, leadership, and the company as needed.Flex position: Working an average of 20-29 hours per week (1000 - 1520 hours per year)**Schedule varies, but is typically 1pm-9om or 3:30pm-11pm, 3 shifts a week.****Essential Job Duties:**1. Responsible for hotel access; monitors entrances/exits, conducts daily inspections. 2. Receive, record and store lost and found items. Research and respond to inquiries from guests concerning status of items. Mail out claimed items to owner. 3. Conducts safety and other investigations and audits; documents and logs incidents. 4. Escort guests and employees as required to parking lots; provide same for employees carrying house banks. 5. Assists guests with door lock/safe problems; controls access to lock-up areas. 6. Responds/coordinates in emergency situations; manage all fire alarms and emergencies within the property. 7. Mitigates liability/risk for people and property; ensures safe environment. 8. Maintain an audit of all cardkeys and hard keys to all the doors to the Inn. 9. Recommend safety ideas; participate in fire prevention and other life safety programs. 10. This position is responsible for performing the above duties during 3rd shift. The ability to work overnight hours is an essential function of this position.**Additional Responsibilities:**1. Provide accurate information to inquirers for directions, hours of operation, etc. 2. Inspect supply levels, cleanliness and organization of storage areas. Assign designated personnel to rectify any deficiencies. 3. Implement methods and techniques, which are cost effective to improve efficiency and reduce the claims and incidents from previous years. 4. Provides general assistance/support for guests, employees, and company.**Qualifications:**1. High school diploma. Additional training or certifications preferred. 2. At least one (1) year of similar experience in guest services support, safety, security, or a related field, preferably in an upscale attraction/hotel/resort environment. 3. Demonstrated commitment to delivering world class internal/external guest service and proven leadership skills. 4. Outstanding interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills. Must be able to communicate clearly and concisely with diplomacy and tact Second language helpful. 5. Ability to write and complete reports in standard English. 6. Proactive and exercises good judgment; can problem solve and troubleshoot. 7. Ability to handle a variety of guest and employee situations in a professional manner; excellent attention to detail with a focus on service and quality. 8. Must be able to quickly acquire knowledge of Biltmore systems, and protocols. 9. Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion is a must. 10. Must have or be able to obtain AED, CPR and First Aid certification.**Physical Requirements:**1. Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.; up to 75-100 with assistance in emergency situations. 2. Must be able to stand, walk, and climb as needed. 3. Frequent pushing, pulling, bending, stooping, and reaching. 4. Must able to physically respond and effectively coordinate in the event of emergencies. 5. May be exposed to dirt, pollen, chemicals, fluids, or other substances in the course of duty. 6. May work outside with fluctuations in temperature and conditions. 7. Must be at least 18 years of age and have a valid NC Driver's License.
