Job summary

The Videographer at the University of Richmond supports University Communications' marketing strategies by developing compelling videos for channels such as YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and more. You will assist with filming, editing, and delivering finished products while collaborating on scripts and concepts to tell university-level brand stories from concept to completion.

Responsibilities include lighting, audio, teleprompter, color grading, motion graphics, and ensuring alignment

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of video camera usage, audio setup, and lighting
  • Proficiency with Adobe Premiere, After Effects, Audition, Media Encoder, DaVinci Resolve, and Avid Media Composer
  • Experience with animation and graphic software, including Adobe After Effects
  • Color grading, audio mixing, and video output format knowledge
  • Ability to work from storyboards and manage multiple projects from concept to delivery
  • Strong communication and teamwork and time management skills
  • Education: bachelor's degree in film/communications or equivalent; minimum 1 year videography experience, portfolio required

Job Description Job Summary: The Videographer is responsible for assisting in and developing compelling videos to support University Communications marketing strategies and propel the University of Richmond brand across channels including YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and others. The Videographer will assist with professional filming, editing, and providing a finished product. The position collaborates with others on scripts and concepts. Support in the creation of university-level brand storytelling, with audio and video content, by helping take concepts from script to completion. This will include but is not limited to filming, recording audio, lighting set up, teleprompting, audio and video editing, color grading, audio design, and motion graphics.

Job Duties:
  • Capture high-quality video footage and audio files using professional-grade equipment
  • Stay current with industry trends and best practices to continually improve video production quality
  • Manage and maintain video equipment, including cameras, lighting, and sound equipment
  • Update/edit video content in response to feedback from University Communications colleagues and campus partners as requested
  • Support senior videographer and video editor as needed
  • Manage, organize, and maintain production files and video libraries
  • Work within University brand guidelines to produce videos for the University’s communication channels utilizing: Effective storytelling techniques Cuts, splices, transitions, and titles Sound effects and audio track Motion graphic animation Color grading and enhancement Creative collaboration
Qualifications:

  • Education & Experience: A bachelor's degree in film production, media studies, communications, or equivalent
  • A minimum of one year of proven work experience as a Videographer, portfolio required
Work Schedule:
  • Full-time; Exempt position Monday-Friday 8:30-5:00PM. This position will require you to work outside of regular office hours to include evenings and weekends.
Pay Structure:
  • Grade 5 ($43,867 to $58,136 annually)
