Job summary

Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine & Science in North Chicago, IL, is seeking a Videographer to join the Marketing and Communications team. You will capture, produce, and edit high‑quality video content for the website, social media, and important university publications, reporting to the Director of Content Strategy.

Work closely with the university photographer and marketing colleagues to ensure storytelling is authentic, audience‑focused, and on brand.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in film, communications, multimedia production, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.

Compensation

$65,000 - $70,000 annually depending on experience and qualifications

Position Summary

The Videographer plays a key role within the Marketing and Communications team, contributing to compelling visual storytelling that elevates Rosalind Franklin University's visibility, reputation, and engagement. This position reports to the Director of Content Strategy and works closely with the Photographer and Multimedia Specialist, who may provide occasional supervision. The Videographer collaborates closely with a multidisciplinary, 14‑person marketing team, including social media, design, digital, and marketing professionals, as well as campus partners.

Working alongside the university photographer and content strategist, the Videographer captures, produces, and edits high‑quality video content that aligns with our mission, brand, and strategic priorities. This role supports the execution of integrated content strategies by creating original video assets and adapting stories for multiple platforms, including the website, social media, and strategic digital publications such as the annual report and Helix magazine.

Through creative vision and technical expertise, the Videographer helps strengthen the university's visual presence, ensuring content is authentic, audience‑focused, and optimized for use across web, social media, and other digital channels.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Video Production
  • Plan, film, and edit a wide range of video content, including promotional videos, event recaps, social media campaigns, faculty and student profiles, and institutional messaging.
  • Ensure all video projects align with the university's brand standards and storytelling objectives.
Collaboration and Coordination
  • Work closely with the university photographer to capture cohesive visual assets during events or scheduled shoots.
  • Partner with the content strategy and marketing design teams to conceptualize video projects that support digital campaigns.
  • Provide still photography in support of strategic initiatives.
Technical Expertise
  • Operate and maintain video production equipment, including cameras, lighting, and audio equipment.
  • Manage post‑production workflows, including editing, color correction, and sound design, ensuring timely delivery of projects.
Creative Direction
  • Propose innovative concepts and formats for video content to engage prospective students, alumni, faculty, and staff across multiple platforms.
  • Stay current with trends in video storytelling, higher education marketing, and multimedia production.
Project Management
  • Organize and archive video files, ensuring efficient asset management and retrieval.
  • Coordinate video shoot schedules and logistics, including location scouting and securing permissions.
Other Duties
  • Assist in training campus partners on basic video production techniques when appropriate.

Required Education & Experience
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in film, communications, multimedia production, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Experience:
    • Proven experience in video production, including filming, editing, and post‑production.
    • Proficiency with video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, After Effects, DaVinci Resolve).
    • Familiarity with video production equipment and workflows.
    • Experience working in digital marketing.
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Strong storytelling and creative skills with an eye for detail.
  • Excellent organizational and time‑management skills to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in higher education or nonprofit organizations.
  • Knowledge of motion graphics and animation.
  • Understanding of digital marketing and social media trends.
Typical Physical Demands & Working Conditions
  • This position requires flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends for events and on‑location video shoots. Travel between the university campus or external locations may be necessary.
