Job summary

Qualifications

Position Summary

The Videographer is a staff position in the Communications Office that reports to the Director of Communications. The position creates compelling video that showcases Hill's educational experience and community life, as well as highlighting long-term strategic initiatives. The role requires regular evening and weekend work that captures the life of the School and covers significant community events.

Working with the Office of Communications, the Videographer develops and carries out creative video strategies that highlight student achievement, School traditions, and educational programs. The position supports the School's social media with consistent, engaging content across platforms.

The Videographer ensures that Hill's visual storytelling reflects the School's mission and values, providing audiences with an aligned and authentic view of the transformational experience the School offers.

The anticipated start date for this position is August 24, 2026.

Responsibilities
Content Creation
  • Create high-quality video for marketing, communications, and archival purposes.
  • Develop storytelling videos that highlight student achievement, faculty profiles, School programs, and fundraising initiatives.
  • Film and edit School events, athletic competitions, performances, and ceremonies.
  • Record, edit, and post livestreams of Chapel Talks and major events.
  • Design motion graphics, animations, and advertisements for digital platforms.
  • Collaborate with the Communications team on content strategy and production calendars.
Digital Content Collaboration
  • Work with the social media manager to plan, produce, and edit content for digital channels.
  • Create videos tailored to each social platform and digital channel.
  • Provide technical expertise and creative input for social-content strategy.
  • Stay current with emerging digital-content trends and platform requirements.
Media Lab Management
  • Oversee the School's media lab facility and equipment.
  • Create and maintain scheduling systems for lab and equipment use.
  • Provide technical support and training for faculty and students.
  • Manage the School's podcasting program and support audio production.
  • Maintain inventory and recommend equipment purchases and replacements.
A/V Systems Oversight
  • Oversee the School's A/V systems for events and presentations.
  • Coordinate with IT and Facilities on A/V installations and upgrades.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues for School events.
  • Work with ITS to train faculty and staff on proper use of A/V equipment.
  • Document systems and create user guides for common A/V scenarios.
Community Support
  • Interface with all constituencies to ensure positive, appropriate, and inclusive interactions.
  • Partner with external-facing offices (Admission, Institutional Giving) on shared goals.
  • Represent the School's visual storytelling approach to the Board of Trustees and alumni when needed.
  • Support student media clubs and organizations.
  • Archive and organize media assets for future use.
  • Source and manage external videography and A/V services for major events as needed.
Qualifications

A candidate will ideally have at least three to five years of professional videography experience, preferably in an educational setting. Experience teaching media-production skills and managing media facilities is highly desired. The person will take on responsibilities typical of a boarding school, including serving on committees and contributing to the School's co‑curricular and residential programs. A bachelor's degree, preferably in Film, Media Studies, Communications, or a related field, is required.
