Job summary

SCAD in Atlanta is seeking a videographer to join the executive administration team, producing high-quality video that communicates the university president's brand, intentions, and stories. You will work on field and studio shoots, manage lighting and audio, and meet tight deadlines set by the media producer.

Job description

As a valued member of the executive administration team, you’ll work on projects that communicate the university president's brand, intentions, and stories through film aligned with executive media's overall strategies. To do so, you’ll use skills in field and studio production, lighting, and audio to shoot high-quality video under deadlines assigned by the media producer.

To support SCAD’s deep professional focus and industry connections, you’ll:

  • Develop new formats and shooting styles, assess equipment needs and repairs, research new equipment, and perform scheduled equipment maintenance
  • Create and implement policies and procedures for executive media shoots, identify set locations, and adhere to a production schedule and reserve equipment for production
  • Keep an accurate record of all video equipment and media archives
  • Maintain contemporary creative and technical skills
  • Work with editors to produce films in final form

As a videographer, you’ll:

  • Coordinate with the executive media team to ensure consistent creative deliverables
  • Provide shoot participants with information and on-screen coaching when necessary
  • Work to understand the story and narrative style to deliver the best product
  • Ensure strong imagery that supports the story
  • Conduct research for all assignments and projects as appropriate

You’ll also:

  • Prepare strategy for production support materials (i.e., lighting, film stock, shot selection, camera operation, and story treatment)
  • Contribute and generate ideas for productions
  • Make suggestions for content and presentations in any production or office procedure

Candidates should ideally demonstrate:

  • A creative and enthusiastic mindset
  • Professionalism in both appearance and demeanor at all times
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • An ability to handle demanding requests and accommodate last-minute schedule changes

Candidates should be able to:

  • Maintain confidentiality when recording high-profile visiting artists, students, staff, and faculty members
  • Respond to feedback positively and with a desire to make changes
  • Continually research, seek inspiration, and provide recommendations to maintain video content at the level of quality expected of a leader in the art and design community
Minimum qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • At least five years of experience in lighting and shooting video, organizing large multicamera studio and field productions, and recording high-quality audio across various locations
  • Experience creating elevated imagery to convey a concept or story
  • Strong working knowledge of current shooting styles, techniques, and equipment
  • Able to travel domestically and internationally on short notice
Certificates, licenses, and registrations:
  • Valid driver's license and passport
  • Access to a car
Travel required:
  • 20–40%
Work hours:

The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
