About the Role
We are seeking an experienced, highly organized Video Production Operations Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of our video production / post-production team. Reporting to the Manager of Video Production, this role will lead the production and post production arm of the broader Video department, directly managing a team of video shooters and editors and overseeing projects from pre-production through post-production and delivery.
The ideal candidate is equal parts production expert, project manager, and people leader. You understand what it takes to produce high-quality video content, but you also know how to create the structure, communication, and team culture that allow creative professionals to do their best work.
You’ll be responsible for developing actionable production plans, balancing workloads, keeping projects moving, and ensuring deadlines are met without sacrificing quality, while working closely with Video leadership to execute the department's broader creative and content strategy.
What We Produce
Our team creates video content designed to educate, inform, inspire, and help customers make confident purchasing decisions. Productions vary in scope, format, and turnaround time and include:
- Product-focused videos highlighting new products, features, and real-world use cases
- Educational, how-to, and editorial content
- Long- and short-form content for YouTube
- Social-first content for Instagram, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and other platforms
- Website video supporting products, categories, and the customer journey
- Interviews, demonstrations, launches, and other special productions
The Video Production Operations Manager should be comfortable adapting the production approach based on the needs of the project, platform, audience, and timeline.
What You’ll Do
Lead Production
- Oversee pre-production, scheduling, filming, post-production, revisions, and delivery.
- Translate creative briefs, scripts, and business needs into clear production plans, assignments, timelines, and deliverables.
- Anticipate production challenges and proactively develop solutions to keep projects moving.
- Ensure content consistently meets established creative, technical, and brand standards.
- Adapt production approaches to efficiently support everything from quick-turn social and product content to larger educational and editorial productions.
Manage & Develop the Team
- Directly manage a team of video shooters and editors.
- Provide clear direction around assignments, priorities, deadlines, and expectations.
- Conduct regular check-ins to review workloads, progress, challenges, and professional development.
- Provide constructive feedback, coaching, and support that helps team members grow and succeed.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, communication, and ownership.
Manage Workloads & Improve Production
- Maintain visibility into team capacity, active projects, deadlines, and upcoming production needs.
- Assign and balance workloads based on availability, skill set, complexity, priority, and deadlines.
- Identify bottlenecks and improve workflows, handoffs, and processes to increase efficiency and turnaround times.
- Maintain visibility into project status and clearly communicate risks, delays, resource needs, and competing priorities.
- Continuously identify opportunities to improve productivity and output while maintaining quality.
Partner with Video Leadership
- Work closely with the Manager of Video Production and other team leads to translate broader creative, content, and business priorities into production plans and day-to-day execution.
- Take ownership of the daily management and operations of the production team.
- Provide regular visibility into production capacity, project status, resource needs, and potential challenges.
- Escalate issues requiring broader departmental decisions while independently resolving day-to-day production challenges.
What We’re Looking For
- Proven professional experience across the full video production lifecycle.
- Previous experience managing or leading video production teams.
- Strong knowledge of shooting, editing, post-production, and professional production workflows.
- Excellent project management, organizational, and prioritization skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple productions, deadlines, and stakeholders simultaneously.
- Experience managing team capacity, workloads, and production resources.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to establish clear expectations, provide constructive feedback, and create accountability.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A proactive, solutions-oriented approach to improving workflows and solving production challenges.
The Ideal Candidate
You’re someone who can step into a busy creative environment and quickly understand what’s working, what’s slowing the team down, and what needs to change.
You enjoy managing people just as much as managing productions. You know that great creative teams perform best when expectations are clear, workloads are manageable, communication is consistent, and people feel ownership over their work.
You lead with consistency and clarity, are comfortable addressing challenges when necessary, and know how to create accountability without micromanaging.
Ultimately, you’ll help build a production operation with greater visibility, better-balanced workloads, stronger communication, fewer bottlenecks, and more consistent delivery.
