The School of Professional Services is seeking a Video Production Manager to lead the strategy, planning, creation, production, and delivery of video and multimedia content that advances the marketing, recruitment, communications, and event initiatives. Reporting to the Director, Print & Digital Design Production, this hands‑on manager supervises video staff members and leads end‑to‑end video production from intake and prioritization through concept development, scripting, storyboarding, production planning, filming, directing, post‑production, quality control, publishing coordination, and final delivery. This manager ensures the discoverability and performance of video content across Google Search, YouTube, social platforms, and emerging AI‑driven search and answer experiences by applying current video SEO and platform best practices.
Bachelor's Degree in Film and Television, Video or Media Production, Communications, Digital Media, Visual Communication, Graphic Design, or a related creative discipline. Coursework or professional experience demonstrating advanced knowledge of video production, post‑production, visual storytelling, and digital media is required.
Master's Degree in Film and Television, Media Production, Digital Communication, or a related field preferred.
5+ years professional experience in video production, post‑production, multimedia storytelling, or related creative production, including demonstrated experience leading video projects from concept through final delivery and formally leading a video/creative team. Experience managing multiple concurrent productions and coordinating cross‑functional stakeholders, freelancers, vendors, agencies, or other production partners is required.
Experience in higher education, an in‑house marketing or communications organization, a creative agency, production studio, or a similarly complex environment is preferred. Demonstrated strong creative and technical judgment, the ability to prioritize work and manage production resources, and a record of delivering polished, brand‑aligned video and multimedia content for public audiences. Experience directly supervising professional video, creative, or multimedia staff. Building or improving video production workflows, standards, templates, intake processes, review/approval systems, or other scalable production practices. Directing or coordinating freelancers, agencies, vendors, production crews, student creators, or other external contributors. Producing video for higher education, marketing, recruitment, executive communications, brand storytelling, events, or similarly complex stakeholder environments. Producing both short‑form and long‑form content for YouTube, web, social media, and other digital channels. Experience with motion graphics or animation using After Effects or comparable tools. Digital asset management, metadata, media archival, and organized footage/library management. Supporting accessible and brand‑governed digital content environments.
In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $90,000.00 to USD $110,000.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
