Job summary

SEGA of America is seeking a Translator I to help deliver top-class, Japanese products to Western markets. The role focuses on raw Japanese-to-English translations across dialogue, narrative text, system messages, and other in-game content, ensuring meaning-faithful localization for Western audiences.

The position is hybrid, based in Irvine, CA, with in-office days required each week. Candidates should have 1–2+ years of translation experience, fluent Japanese, and basic English grammar skills,

Qualifications

• Fluency in Japanese (written and verbal) is required; basic English grammar skills are also required.
• Typically has 1-2+ years of translation experience.
• In-office attendance is required for supervision, collaboration and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Translate game text, scripts, manuals, web content, QA bugs, and other materials from Japanese to English with accuracy and context.
• Create preparation materials for localization, such as terms lists, character descriptions, voiceover scripts, and related documentation.
• Collaborate with editors, translators, and project team members; communicate to clarify game text and resolve issues.
• Attend project meetings and voiceover sessions as needed.
