ABC13 Houston, part of Disney Entertainment, is seeking a news video editor who can turn raw footage and data into clear, compelling segments for our newscasts under tight deadlines. The right candidate will multi-task, prioritize assignments, and demonstrate strong news judgment.

ABC13 provides live local news and weather coverage 24/7 through its linear and streaming newscasts, as well as its website, apps and social media platforms.

Job Summary

We are looking for a news video editor who can support turning video and data into relevant information under tight deadlines for newscasts. The perfect candidate is someone that is able to multi-task and prioritize assignments and demonstrate good news judgement.

Candidates must be able to embrace new technologies and digital platforms to optimize the viewer experience. We want someone who wants to be involved in the community, is passionate about their work, and enjoys being part of a team.

Basic Qualifications

• 3 years of experience editing on non-linear systems.

• Experience with Adobe Premiere Pro, Dalet Galaxy, and live signal intake.

• Team player with exceptional work ethic and technical troubleshooting skills.

• Understanding and knowledge of the digital newsroom and understanding of the digital workflow for broadcast and streaming newscasts and server-based digital media workflow.

• Ability to edit under tight deadline situations, being creative, precise and being able to work quickly.

• Demonstrate good news judgement.

• Must be able to work any shift, any day including overnights, weekends, and holidays and as business dictates in extended breaking news scenarios.

Required Education

• High School Diploma or equivalency

Preferred Education

• Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communication or related field preferred

The hiring range for this position in Houston, TX is $52,200 to $69,900 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
