GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Public Citizen’s Communications Office is seeking a Video Editor and Producer to join a creative, energetic and fast-paced team. The Video Editor will be responsible for conceiving and implementing video content for Public Citizen’s campaigns, including creating video series, TikTok and Instagram content, long-form videos, interviews, and more. We seek a politically informed individual who is experienced with digital and social media platforms, and possesses versatile video editing skills. We need someone who has strong story-telling skills, pays keen attention to detail, can work in a fast-paced environment, and enjoys collaborating with others. This person will be part of a communications team that works closely together to map out video content for the organization. This position reports to the Director of Communications and works closely with the Deputy Director of Communications and Digital Content Manager. This is a 2 year position.RESPONSIBILITIES:- Film, assemble footage, and edit content into polished, engaging videos for Public Citizen’s social media platforms;
- Collaborate with the communications director, deputy director, and digital manager to develop ideas, storylines, and overall video production strategies for various campaigns and for different social media platforms (YouTube, TikTok, Instagram…etc.).
- Add music, sound effects, graphics, and visual effects to enhance video content;
- Ensure consistency and quality across all video content, adhering to Public Citizen’s branding and messaging guidelines
- Identify video opportunities and execute content;
- Stay updated with industry trends and incorporate best practices into video editing;
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines;
- Other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:- Proven experience as a Video Editor or similar role, with a portfolio showcasing previous work.
- Proficiency in video editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro or Final Cut Pro, as well as phone-editing tools like CapCut. Experience with motion graphics and animation is a plus.
- An ability and understanding of how to adapt videos to different platforms.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, respond to short-term deadlines and balance multiple responsibilities; maintain strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate effectively.
- Understanding of storytelling techniques and visual composition.
- Deep and demonstrated commitment to Public Citizen’s mission and commitment to public interest advocacy.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, not required. More than 3 years of work experience
SALARY AND BENEFITS:
Competitive non-profit salary commensurate with experience; good medical and dental coverage; three weeks paid vacation for new employees. Salary range: $65,227 to $94,384Benefits include:- Great medical and dental coverage, 100% paid by PC, including full coverage for children
