Overnight Digital Editor/Producer, MSNBC Digital

We are seeking a Digital Editor and Platforms Producer to join MSNBC Digital. You will have a deep understanding of online conversations, with excellent news judgment, strong writing, copy editing, social media, and video editing skills. Your role involves overseeing MSNBC’s homepage, app, newsletters, and social channels, ensuring they are accurate, engaging, and reflect major news stories of the day.

This position is based in New York City, Washington, D.C., or Los Angeles, with a schedule from 10 p.m to 6 a.m., Monday through Friday. It is represented by the Writers Guild of America East.

Responsibilities:

1. Write and test engaging, accurate headlines
2. Assist with app alerts and newsletters
3. Maintain and produce content for MSNBC’s homepage
4. Create shareable social media content
5. Produce editorial and breaking news content across platforms
6. Fact-check all content for accuracy and standards
7. Create graphics and photo posts for Instagram
8. Collaborate with show producers, writers, and contributors
9. Publish breaking news blogs

Qualifications / Experience:

1. Minimum 4 years in a digital newsroom, with publishing experience on owned/social platforms
2. At least 4 years in political producing/writing
3. Proficiency in social media platforms and trends
4. Skills in Adobe Premiere, in-app editing, CapCut
5. Self-starter with ability to generate ideas and work independently
6. Excellent news judgment and real-time coverage skills
7. Positive attitude and team orientation
8. Willingness to work flexible hours
9. Legal work authorization in the U.S.
10. Hybrid work model, with a minimum of three days in the office per week
