Job summary

Essex District Attorney’s Office seeks a Victim Witness Advocate to support victims and witnesses through the criminal justice process. The role involves crisis intervention, referrals, and court orientation, under the supervision of the Victim Witness Services Division.

The Advocate will handle intake, maintain case records, and collaborate with district attorneys and service providers, ensuring timely communication and sensitive handling of information.

Qualifications

• Associates or Bachelor’s degree required.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.

Responsibilities

• Provide services to victims and witnesses in compliance with legal rights and Division policy.
• Provide crisis intervention to victims and their families.
• Assess needs and provide referrals and follow-up.
• Provide court orientation and explain procedures.
• Screen cases for victims and witnesses and complete intake forms.
• Document and maintain case activity for files.
• Distribute victim rights materials and literature.
