Job summary

Portage County's District Attorney’s Office is seeking a full-time Victim Witness Specialist to help crime victims and witnesses navigate the justice system and exercise their rights. The role provides orientation, information about proceedings, and liaison support between prosecutors, law enforcement, and human services, with a focus on minimizing the impact of court processes.

Responsibilities

• Provide orientation and support services to victims and witnesses, informing them of rights and helping them attend court.
• Ensure compliance with statutory and constitutional requirements and related guidelines.
• Assist in developing procedures, forms, and brochures for the Victim Witness Program.
• Maintain records accurately, timely, and in a lawful manner.
• Act as liaison between victims, witnesses, prosecutors, and community resources.
• Schedule court appearances and coordinate hotels and transportation as needed.
• Provide training and orientation about the program to County staff and the community.
• Coordinate scheduling of witnesses with professionals and court proceedings.
