Job summary

University of Maryland Medical System is seeking a Victim Services Supervisor to lead full-time Victim Specialists, after-hours Crisis Hotline Victim Advocates, and a Mental Health Counselor. Qualifications

• Master’s in social work, Public Health, Psychology, Sociology, or related field.

Under the direction of the Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Center (DV/SAC) Program Manager, the Victim Services Supervisor will lead and supervise full-time Victim Specialists, after-hours Crisis Hotline Victim Advocates, and a Mental Health Counselor supporting survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence, and human trafficking. The Supervisor will provide clinical leadership for the Victim Services programs by serving as an educator, role model, advocate, and change agent to enhance survivor care and staff competency. The Supervisor directs daily Victim Service team operations and provides strong leadership through training, management, and evaluation of assigned team members and programs.

Primary Responsibilities

• Supervises direct client services provided by the Victim Services team, including Crisis Intervention, Case Management, Court Advocacy, Housing Advocacy, and Mental Health Counseling services.
• Develops, leads, and participates in Victim Services program strategic planning, policies, and procedures in collaboration with the DV/SAC Project Director and Program Manager and relevant external stakeholders.
• Oversees clinical social work programming and supervision of the Mental Health Counselor.
• Monitors and evaluates the productivity and quality of programs to identify potential improvements and ensure compliance with agency policies, grant conditions, and ethical standards in the field.
• Provides back-up assistance to on-call staff members delivering direct client support.
• Provides direct supervision to the Victim Services Specialists, After-Hours Victim Advocates, and Mental Health Counselor, ensuring high-quality service delivery and professional development.
• Monitors staff caseloads, client outcomes, and service quality through regular individual supervision, case consultation, and weekly team meetings.
• Leads the recruitment, screening, selection, onboarding, and training of Victim Services personnel, including After-Hours Crisis Hotline Victim Advocates.
• Develops, coordinates, and maintains monthly 24/7 Crisis Hotline staffing schedules to ensure continuous coverage and compliance with Prince George's County service requirements.
• Partners with the Program Manager to conduct employee performance evaluations, establish professional development goals, and support ongoing staff growth.
• Conducts case audits to ensure compliance with agency policies, funding requirements, and best practices; develops and implements performance improvement plans when needed.
• Designs, facilitates, and coordinates evidence-based training for staff on topics including trauma-informed care, crisis intervention, case management, sexual violence prevention and response, and emerging best practices in victim services.
• Promotes staff wellness by monitoring professional quality of life, recognizing the impact of secondary traumatic stress and vicarious trauma, and providing training, resources, and technical assistance on resilience, self-care, and employee well-being.
• Ensures all Victim Services staff meet and maintain training, certification, and continuing education requirements established by the Maryland Coalition Against Sexual Assault (MCASA) to preserve the agency's Rape Crisis Center designation.
• Develops and maintains professional working relationships with local service providers and partner agencies.
• Serves on various task forces and advocacy initiatives aimed at improving identification and response for survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence, and human trafficking.
• Consults with other external agencies to provide and enhance support services and resources available to survivors.
• Works with community partners to evaluate and promote new services.
• Completes any other tasks and trainings deemed necessary by the program manager.
• Maintains HIPAA standards and ensures confidentiality of protected health information.
• Communicate effectively with patients, physicians, and their staff on a regular basis.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.

Work Experience

Education & Experience - Preferred

• Master’s in social work, Public Health, Psychology, Sociology, or related human service field.
• Licensed Certified Social Worker – Clinical
• Minimum of five (5) years of related experience in crisis intervention, case management, and victim advocacy-related programs required.
• Minimum of two (2) years of related experience supervising crisis intervention, case management, and victim-advocacy-related programs required
• Eight (8) years of experience is preferred.
