Job summary

Genesee County Human Resources is seeking a qualified professional to join the Prosecutor’s Office, providing victim-focused casework and support within the criminal justice system.

The role involves informing victims of rights under the Michigan Crime Victims Act, assisting with referrals, and coordinating case management under supervision, including court-related duties and collaboration with attorney staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in psychology, pre-law or social service work, within twelve months of hire.
• Internship completed in one of: Prosecuting Attorney's office, Police Department, Domestic Violence shelter, Child Advocacy agency, educational setting or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Conducts interviews with appropriate parties as required;
• Writes case histories and/or casework studies and makes recommendations;
• Counsels adults and/or juveniles as directed;
• Makes referrals to community agencies;
• Processing paperwork for Crime Victim Rights and Crime Victim Compensation;
• Accompanying victims to court;
• Assisting APAs with victim contact;
• General work under supervision of Social Workers, Lead Social Workers and Casework Supervisor along with guidance of attorney staff;
• Works in the District, Circuit- Family Division and Circuit Criminal division courts.

Education
