Job summary

Genesee County Prosecutor's Office in Michigan seeks a Caseworker to perform professional casework duties serving victims of violent crimes and their families. You will provide information on rights under the Michigan Crime Victims Act and assist clients through case management within the criminal justice system, under supervision.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in psychology, pre-law or social service work completed within twelve (12) months of hire.
Completed internship program for at least one term within a Prosecuting Attorney's office, Police Department, Domestic Violence shelter, Child Advocacy agency, educational setting or equivalent.

Responsibilities

Conducts interviews with appropriate parties as required.
Writes case histories and/or casework studies and makes recommendations.
Counsels adults and/or juveniles as directed.
Makes referrals to community agencies.
Processing paperwork for Crime Victim Rights and Crime Victim Compensation.
Accompanying victims to court.
Assisting APAs with victim contact.
General work under supervision of Social Workers, Lead Social Workers and Casework Supervisor along with guidance of attorney staff.
Works in the District, Circuit- Family Division and Circuit Criminal division courts.
