Job description

We’re seeking someone to join our team as a Vice President to lead end-to-end sourcing and commercial management across the Firm’s Software portfolio for IBM / Broadcom / third party mainframe software relationships, as well as mainframe hardware.

In the Corporate Services division, we empower our businesses by creating collaborative workplace solutions and commercial services that enhance the employee and client experience, while optimizing the value of our sourcing and third-party lifecycle to enable the Firm to do-and-win business.

Since 1935, Morgan Stanley is known as a global leader in financial services, always evolving and innovating to better serve our clients and our communities in more than 40 countries around the world.

What you’ll do in the role:
  • Lead full lifecycle category strategy and execution across the IBM / Broadcom software portfolios, mainframe hardware and software portfolio, including renewals, new demand, competitive assessments, demand management, technology refreshes, and supplier rationalization.
  • Manage the breadth of supplier ecosystems, including businesses and technologies acquired by IBM and Broadcom, such as Red Hat, VMware, CA Technologies, Symantec and Brocade across the firm globally.
  • Lead complex commercial negotiations spanning enterprise and infrastructure software, licensing and consumption models, maintenance and support, professional services and related reseller transactions.
  • Oversee multimillion-dollar mainframe hardware investments, including IBM Z systems, capacity requirements, refresh planning, maintenance and associated contractual and commercial considerations.
  • Provide strategic supplier governance, prepare executive-level recommendations and regularly engage Managing Directors and senior technology stakeholders on commercial strategy, risk, funding and execution decisions.
  • Coordinate with technology, finance, legal, software asset management, third-party risk and procurement operations to deliver compliant transactions, protect the Firm’s interests and sustain measurable commercial outcomes.
What you’ll bring to the role:
  • Significant experience in technology sourcing, procurement, vendor management, category strategy and complex enterprise negotiations.
  • Demonstrated experience managing large, strategic technology suppliers and navigating broad product portfolios, acquisition-driven supplier structures and complex commercial models.
  • Strong knowledge of enterprise and infrastructure software licensing, contracting, maintenance, support and consumption-based pricing; familiarity with mainframe hardware and software is preferred.
  • Strong executive presence and stakeholder management skills, including the ability to develop concise recommendations and engage effectively with Managing Directors and senior technology leaders.
  • Commercial judgment and governance discipline to manage high-value renewals, supplier concentration, contractual risk, escalations and negotiations with limited competitive alternatives.
  • Ability to translate technical, financial and risk requirements into actionable sourcing strategies, manage a demanding global pipeline and deliver timely, compliant and measurable results.

The position’s work location will be 1445 Ross Ave, Dallas, TX 75202 at a future date. The role may begin remotely until the office location becomes available. In-Person interviews will be required for the role.
